Two Crows
Two crows were perched
on an orchard fence,
under a morning sun
Cawing like a couple
of street corner thugs,
who were looking for some fun.
Both spied a circling menace,
soaring high
up in the sky
A hawk had strayed
onto their turf,
this wasn't going to fly.
The crows cawed curses
and took to wing,
clamoring for a fight
It was time for a little schooling,
To teach this bird
to see the light
The hawk seemed not to notice
As the two made crows
approached
He played it cool,
neigh a feather moved
As the cocky crows encroached
A swoop and a dive
to disturb the air,
and so began the rumble
The crows nipped at his tail feathers
The hawk,
he took a tumble
Into a dive
then up and out
The hawk made no concession
The crows gave chase
and upped the game,
The hawk had learned his lesson
Back came the crows
to their orchard fence
proud of their feather ruffling
Cackling and cawing
and crowing so,
I could swear
that they were laughing
